Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop the electro-mechanical design of wire harnesses within the Starlink vehicle family
• Design harness solutions within a 3D NX CAD environment and manage technical trade studies
• Generate electrical schematics for flight and qualification designs
• Own vehicle-level harnessing mechanical assemblies and drive systems integration trades
• Perform mechanical and electrical analysis and physical testing regarding thermal, loads, vibration, and shock
• Document design, analysis, and testing results via design reviews
• Create and release manufacturing documentation and drawings on schedule
• Interface with production and integration teams to ensure timely installation
• Conduct R&D investigations to optimize mass and cost savings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
• Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
• Experience with wire harness 3D design, installation drawings, and formboard creation
• Experience with 3D modeling of complex top-level assemblies and avionics enclosures
• 1+ years of hands-on project experience with complex mechanical systems
• Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes
• Prior ownership of a complex component from design through high-volume production
