About the role
Responsibilities
- Design the factory and process to deliver high-quality flow control devices and mechanisms for Starship and Super Heavy
- Optimize production flow, accelerate production, and implement targeted automation
- Work with design engineers and vendors to ensure parts are designed for manufacturability
- Maintain work instructions and implement flight-like acceptance testing
- Support component level testing including proof, leak, fluid flow, and cryogenic checkouts
- Investigate production yield and solve root cause issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in physics or an engineering discipline
- 1+ years of mechanical design or hands-on manufacturing experience
- Ability to travel to vendors and other SpaceX sites
- Availability to work long hours and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership or mentorship experience
- Experience with fluid and electromechanical components (valves, actuators, regulators, motors)
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, and electrical circuits
- Proficiency in interpreting fluid schematics, engineering drawings, and circuit layouts
- Software development experience in SQL, Python, or C#
