Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ensure documentation packages are accurate and ready for transfer to suppliers and contract manufacturing partners
• Update existing designs and drawings, conduct DFM/DFA reviews, and maintain documentation for customized products
• Author and maintain assembly and inspection procedures for mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical modules
• Manage change and product structure within CAD and PLM tools
• Maintain technical drawing standards and support design engineering team with drawing changes
• Release technical documentation packages and coordinate CAD file conversions
• Troubleshoot production issues with suppliers and maintain manufacturing documentation
• Ensure BOM accuracy and collaborate with sourcing teams to resolve discrepancies
• Design modules as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design and manufacturing documentation for outsourced production
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor)
• Experience using PDM software (preferably Autodesk Vault)
• Thorough understanding of fabrication, machining, sheet metal, and electromechanical/optomechanical assembly
• Proficiency with PLM and configuration management processes (ECO/ECR/MCO)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in optical systems or electronic systems manufacturing environments
• Experience with prototype fabrication and testing
• Familiarity with digital thread and model-based definition (MBD) environments
• Previous experience working in a startup environment
