Responsibilities

• Design and develop compact, ruggedized subsystems, housings, fixtures, test rigs, and mechanical assemblies in CAD
• Prototype components using CNC machining, 3D printing, laser cutting, and vacuum or pressure forming
• Develop and integrate fluidic subsystems including manifolds, channels, valves, pumps, and sealing solutions
• Apply DFM/DFA principles, tolerance analysis, and conduct mechanical, pressure, flow, and thermal tests
• Work with vendors and manufacturers to source parts and resolve design issues
• Run live demonstrations, field testing, and operator feedback sessions to drive rapid iteration

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Materials, Biomedical, Electrical) or equivalent capability
• Portfolio of independent projects demonstrating applied mechanical design and prototyping skills
• Prior shop experience with CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and general fabrication tools
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for producing parts, assemblies, and drawings
• Strong understanding of diverse materials and physics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with peristaltic and syringe pumps, and solenoid or SMA valves
• Experience with ruggedization standards and MIL-STD/MIL-SPEC design
• Experience with MATLAB or tools for thermal management and CFD analysis
• DFM/DFA experience in regulated industries such as defense, aerospace, or medical
• Knowledge of high-performance materials like PEEK, PTFE, composites, and stainless steels
