About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical assemblies for mobile robotic welding platforms, including sensor integration, structural components, motion systems, and tooling interfaces
- Own designs from concept through fabrication, assembly, and field validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensing hardware like cameras, LiDAR, and proximity sensors
- Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles for machined components, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing
- Create and maintain detailed CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks
- Work with fabrication vendors and internal shop resources to turn drawings into parts
- Support root cause analysis and design improvements based on field findings
Requirements
- 3–6 years of mechanical engineering experience in product development or hardware engineering
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for multi-body and multi-component assemblies
- Hands-on experience with PDM for version control
- Solid command of engineering drawing standards and GD&T
- Demonstrated experience designing for machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing
- Ability to reason about mechanical interfaces within electromechanical systems
