Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Create, review, and refine spacecraft component and subsystem mechanical designs using SolidWorks
• Perform stress and dynamic analyses including hand calculations and simple FEM
• Support build and integration by overseeing technicians and resolving fit, form, and function issues
• Design test fixtures and execute environmental test campaigns (vibration, shock, TVAC)
• Maintain engineering drawings with GD&T, BOMs, and revision control via PLM systems
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineers and external vendors for prototyping and development

Requirements

• 5 years of experience designing, building, and testing flight hardware in space or similar industries
• B.S. or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD packages
• Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and ECO processes
• Demonstrated experience executing structural or environmental tests
• Hands-on experience supporting hardware builds and integration
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with deployable structures, solar arrays, or SADA mechanisms
• Proficiency in structural analysis tools like FEMAP, ANSYS, or Nastran
• Experience with thermal management systems for spacecraft
• Knowledge of composite materials and bonded assemblies
• Software skills in Python or MATLAB for data analysis
• Experience with optomechanical instrument or payload design
