Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve deployed bench-scale robotics and mechanical systems
• Diagnose failures across pneumatic, electromechanical, optical, and mechanical subsystems
• Use SolidWorks CAD to design replacement parts, retrofits, and fixtures
• Create and validate prototypes using 3D printing and laser cutting
• Perform root cause analysis using 5 Whys and fishbone diagrams
• Manage engineering changes through ECO/ECM and PDM/PLM systems
• Track reliability metrics such as uptime, MTBF, and MTTR
• Coordinate with external vendors on spares and custom components

Requirements

• Experience in mechanical engineering, robotics, or laboratory automation
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
• Strong SolidWorks CAD skills with GD&T and DFMA experience
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems under operational pressure
• Working knowledge of RCA, FMEA, or CAPA methods
• Experience with requirement management or PLM/PDM systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience sustaining automated systems in life science or biotech
• Experience with PDM Vault management and rapid prototyping
• Knowledge of motion control, mechatronic systems, or robotic integration
• Experience supporting production ramp or process optimization
