About the role
Responsibilities
- Research, design, modify, and evaluate mechanical systems, products, and components using fundamental engineering principles
- Apply knowledge of stress, strain, thermal management, and mechanics of materials to solve complex engineering problems
- Validate vendor equipment performance through the development of testing methods and documentation of results
- Conduct final system performance evaluations through test procedure execution and data analysis
- Lead projects to completion by developing schedules to ensure technical performance is met within cost constraints
- Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, project specifications, and test results
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, and customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline
- 7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or related disciplines
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
- Working knowledge of CAD and CFD software
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- Extensive experience with SolidWorks CAD software
- Experience with High-Energy Lasers (HEL), directed energy, optical, or precision pointing systems
- Understanding of electro-optical systems, thermal management, or power management systems
- Knowledge of DoD systems engineering processes, requirements development, and verification/validation
- Experience supporting Army, Navy, Air Force, or OSD HEL programs
