Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Research, design, modify, and evaluate mechanical systems, products, and components using fundamental engineering principles
• Apply knowledge of stress, strain, thermal management, and mechanics of materials to solve complex engineering problems
• Validate vendor equipment performance through the development of testing methods and documentation of results
• Conduct final system performance evaluations through test procedure execution and data analysis
• Lead projects to completion by developing schedules to ensure technical performance is met within cost constraints
• Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, project specifications, and test results
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, and customers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline
• 7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or related disciplines
• US Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• Working knowledge of CAD and CFD software

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
• Extensive experience with SolidWorks CAD software
• Experience with High-Energy Lasers (HEL), directed energy, optical, or precision pointing systems
• Understanding of electro-optical systems, thermal management, or power management systems
• Knowledge of DoD systems engineering processes, requirements development, and verification/validation
• Experience supporting Army, Navy, Air Force, or OSD HEL programs
