Mechanical Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical components and subsystems end-to-end from requirements to integration support
• Develop CAD and drawings in Creo applying GD&T and defining inspectable requirements
• Drive interface closure including envelopes, fastener patterns, datums, and thermal accommodations
• Support spacecraft build and integration through issue triage and rapid root-cause collaboration
• Develop and execute verification plans including functional checks and environmental test prep
• Support design reviews (PDR/CDR), test readiness reviews, and configuration boards
• Coordinate with suppliers and procurement to clarify requirements and review vendor designs

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 7+ years of relevant experience with aerospace or space hardware development
• Proficiency in Creo and working knowledge of Windchill or similar PLM
• Strong GD&T fundamentals (ASME Y14.5)
• Experience supporting hardware through build and test cycles
• Must be located within the DMV area
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual per ITAR regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Spacecraft integration exposure including mass properties and alignment
• Experience writing or reviewing work instructions and build travelers
• Familiarity with environmental testing and test readiness processes
