Mechanical Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Own critical parts of current generation Whoop hardware products
• Design, prototype, and test complex mechanical components around microelectronics to meet technical and industrial design requirements
• Develop and present multiple design solutions for complex technical challenges to cross-functional teams
• Generate technical documentation including 3D files, 2D drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
• Conduct DfM reviews and communicate engineering requests to vendors and contract manufacturers
• Drive second sourcing initiatives for mechanical components to diversify the supply base and reduce risk
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement design improvements for quality, reliability, and performance
• Support the execution of verification and validation plans using DOE methodologies
• Travel up to 20% internationally to visit contract manufacturers and suppliers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in the design of complex mechanical products (consumer electronics, wearables, or medical devices preferred)
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, including advanced assemblies and tolerance analysis
• Experience applying DfM/DFx feedback to designs
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools for proof-of-concept models
• Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding or sheet metal design
• Familiarity with validation testing methods and statistical analysis tools
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
• A passion for health, fitness, and human-centered wearable technology
