About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering tasks across the whole product lifecycle from concept to fielded products
- Model parts and assemblies in CAD using SolidWorks
- Design mechanisms with multiple degrees of freedom
- Identify mechanical risks using hand calculations, Python scripts, FEA, and CFD simulations
- Create manufacturing drawings using GD&T and work with suppliers on manufacturability
- Prototype in-house using waterjets, laser cutters, mills, lathes, and 3D printers
- Test sensors and components using thermal chambers and vibration tables
- Collaborate with software, electrical, and systems engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field
- Background in product design integrating mechanisms and electronics
- Experience working with software and electrical engineering teams
- Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks
- Strong background in engineering analysis including bearing life, motor loads, and material selection
- Ability to perform COTS trade studies and make-versus-buy decisions
- Authorization to work for any US employer without visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with passive thermal design, environmental sealing, and custom gear trains
- Familiarity with GD&T drawings and BOM management
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language
- Experience in production-level design and testing methods
