About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks across the whole product lifecycle from concept to fielded products
  • Model parts and assemblies in CAD using SolidWorks
  • Design mechanisms with multiple degrees of freedom
  • Identify mechanical risks using hand calculations, Python scripts, FEA, and CFD simulations
  • Create manufacturing drawings using GD&T and work with suppliers on manufacturability
  • Prototype in-house using waterjets, laser cutters, mills, lathes, and 3D printers
  • Test sensors and components using thermal chambers and vibration tables
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, and systems engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field
  • Background in product design integrating mechanisms and electronics
  • Experience working with software and electrical engineering teams
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks
  • Strong background in engineering analysis including bearing life, motor loads, and material selection
  • Ability to perform COTS trade studies and make-versus-buy decisions
  • Authorization to work for any US employer without visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with passive thermal design, environmental sealing, and custom gear trains
  • Familiarity with GD&T drawings and BOM management
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language
  • Experience in production-level design and testing methods
