About the Company

Human Archive is a research lab backed by Y Combinator focused on modeling human embodied intelligence. Founded by Stanford and UC Berkeley researchers, we build custom hardware products to recover human embodied intelligence as a learned model.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical architecture including chassis design, packaging, and weight distribution
  • Design optical mount and alignment systems for multi-camera arrays
  • Manage power and battery packaging, including enclosures and cable routing
  • Implement thermal management solutions for tight wearable form factors
  • Execute DFM and manufacturing handoff for CNC, injection molding, and sheet metal
  • Develop production drawings, GD&T, and fixture designs

Requirements

  • Hands-on mechanical CAD experience (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or Fusion 360)
  • Experience shipping consumer or wearable hardware to real users
  • DFM fluency across CNC, injection molding, and sheet metal
  • Proficiency in tolerance stack-up and GD&T for precision optical systems
  • Experience with structural and thermal FEA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in head-worn or body-worn products (AR/VR, smart eyewear)
  • Experience with composite chassis design
  • Expertise in multi-camera optical alignment
  • Experience working with Asian ODMs and tooling shops
  • Background in research-grade capture systems or medical wearables
