General Matter enriches uranium. We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services in the US to restore America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel for AI, advanced manufacturing, and critical industries.
Responsibilities
- Develop mechanisms and mechanical structures for enrichment through the entire product lifecycle
- Support optimization of designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability
- Functionally test hardware through thermal, vibe, shock, and durability testing
- Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and develop hardware mitigations
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to ensure design objectives are met
- Work closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and nuclear engineers for system integration
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 1+ years of mechanical engineering experience via projects, research, internships, or professional work
- Proficiency in a 3D CAD package (Solidworks, CATIA, NX, etc.)
- Ability to create manufacturing drawings using GD&T
- Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA)
- Evidence of exceptional ability through prior projects or a portfolio of work
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Ability to perform trade studies and make recommendations using first principles
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or highly technical role
