About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop heat load calculations for air and liquid cooling systems in high-density compute environments
  • Specify cooling equipment, pumps, heat exchangers, and chillers for modular buildings
  • Size piping networks and develop detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Create technical documentation including specification sheets, BOMs, and assembly instructions
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements, commercial codes, and engineering standards
  • Collaborate with structural and architectural teams to integrate mechanical systems into modular data centers
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) reviews
  • Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for product lifecycle management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 4-6 years of experience in mechanical design with emphasis on data center cooling, HVAC, and plumbing
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards (TC 9.9) and thermal guidelines for data processing
  • Working knowledge of building codes, energy codes, and UL listings
  • Ability to solve thermodynamic and fluid flow challenges using first principles
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Experience with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modeling
  • Experience with ERP/MRP software
  • Experience with simulation and analysis software such as FEA or FDM
