About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise-wide support for in-service pressure vessels and piping, including new construction projects and technical standard maintenance
  • Perform mechanical design analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) for fixed equipment components in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping
  • Apply fracture mechanics, fatigue, buckling, and creep principles to evaluate component stress ranges
  • Conduct minimum thickness calculations (Tmin) on piping and pressure vessels per API 570, API 574, and API 579
  • Perform Fitness-For-Service assessments and select post-construction repair options such as sleeves, patches, and weld repairs
  • Review supplier pressure vessel design packages and ensure compliance with ASME code requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
  • 10+ years of experience in pressure vessel or mechanical design
  • Experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry
  • Proficiency with ASME Sec VIII, PCC-2, and API 579
  • Experience using FEA software such as SolidWorks, Ansys, or Abaqus
  • Experience with pressure vessel design software such as Compress or PV

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Field experience supporting pressure vessel design and repairs at an operating petrochemical plant
  • Experience working directly with a pressure vessel fabricator
