About the role
Responsibilities
- Create and manage CAD models and drawings, including importing, simplifying, and documenting designs.
- Develop CAD models of existing hardware to support integration and improvement.
- Collaborate with product owners to define requirements and ensure designs meet performance, safety, and usability goals.
- Use Onshape for modeling 3D sheet metal parts and complex, multi-part assemblies.
- Create detailed 2D fabrication drawings using proper GD&T (ASME Y14.5), annotations, welding symbols, and bend information.
- Design sheet metal parts and create flat patterns for fabrication.
- Manage large assembly files and generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Maintain and revise drawings and assemblies based on engineering change requests (ECRs).
- Provide technical input for assembly documentation, operator manuals, and maintenance guides.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in Robotics, Automotive, or a similar domain.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Onshape preferred, or SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
- Strong understanding of GD&T and welding processes.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, or hardware builds.
- Demonstrated interest in automation, robotics, or safety-critical systems.
