About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own hardware development from start to finish, including specification, design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing
  • Design both flight hardware and test setups to validate designs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software, electrical, perception, controls, and manufacturing engineers
  • Establish top-level design architectures and implementation methodologies
  • Perform and document design analysis and testing results to make data-driven decisions
  • Work closely with Industrial Design partners to ensure products meet design intent and customer needs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the broader mechanical engineering team

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in mechanical engineering or product design
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Test)
  • Proficiency with statistical tolerance analysis, dimensioning, and GD&T
  • Expertise in industry-standard 3D CAD modeling tool suites
  • Strong working knowledge of material properties (plastics, metals, adhesives, and glass)
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as stamping, machining, 3D printing, and injection molding

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, or Consumer Electronics
  • Experience designing for high-stress shock and vibration environments
  • In-depth understanding of electronics packaging and FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
  • Experience working with domestic and international supply chain partners
  • Experience developing mechanical solutions for UAV/UAS applications
