Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support the mechanical engineering development of Applied Vehicles
• Contribute to the mechanical design of the external sensor suite, compute assembly, and vehicle interior
• Perform structural and thermal analysis of mechanical designs
• Own the design, analysis, and validation of systems from component to fully integrated vehicle level
• Design with a focus on scalability and manufacturability
• Work cross-functionally to ensure mechanical designs meet organizational requirements
• Verify component installation through hands-on validation
• Perform incoming IQC including visual inspection, pressure testing, and firmware flashing
• Design, draw, and prototype custom harness cables
• Setup devices under test and execute test scripts
• Work with engineers to design, fabricate, and assemble custom test fixtures

Requirements

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
• Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and verbal)
• 2+ years of experience designing hardware and shipping products
• Demonstrated experience in FEA/CAE
• Experience with hardware reliability and testing
• Experience with CNC, Machining, Metal Working, and Welding
• Experience with Automotive Repair and Maintenance
• Experience with AV components such as Lidars, Radars, and Cameras
• Familiarity using CAD (Catia V6 preferred)
