About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support the mechanical engineering development of Applied Vehicles, including external sensor suites, compute assemblies, and vehicle interiors.
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis of mechanical designs using FEA/CAE.
  • Own the design, analysis, and validation of systems from the component level to the fully integrated vehicle.
  • Design hardware with a focus on scalability, manufacturability, and reliability in harsh environments.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure mechanical designs meet organizational requirements.
  • Conduct hands-on validation to verify component installation and perform incoming quality control (IQC).
  • Design, fabricate, and assemble custom test fixtures and prototype custom harness cables.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and verbal) for a bilingual business environment.
  • 2+ years of experience designing hardware and shipping products.
  • Demonstrated experience in FEA/CAE and hardware reliability/testing.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Catia V6 preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with CNC, machining, metal working, and welding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness).
  • Experience with automotive repair and maintenance.
  • Experience working with autonomous vehicle components such as Lidars, Radars, and Cameras.
