Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform hazardous and non-hazardous fluid operations for spacecraft servicing, specifically focusing on Environmental Control and Life Support Sub-Systems (ECLSS).
• Develop plans, write work authorization documents, and lead Task Teams for spacecraft processing.
• Support the assembly, test, and launch of NASA's Launch Services Program spacecraft, ISS processing, and Orion Crew Module.
• Prepare ground support equipment (GSE) in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and pressure vessel safety standards.
• Create software products for firing room console interaction and execute tests for Orion Command Service Module (CSM) processing.
• Apply technical principles to ground-to-vehicle interfaces, vehicle/ground system design, and launch configuration.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering (or a related technical discipline) from an accredited school.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Ability to work in a hazardous testing facility environment, which may include climbing stairs, ladders, and walking on uneven terrain.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering related to flight hardware and ground support equipment.
• Knowledge of software development and control systems for monitoring and controlling hypergolic system hardware.
• Experience with Ground Flight Application Software (GFAS).
