Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components for simulated training devices, including structural frames, sheet metal, and assemblies
• Create new parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
• Collaborate with Systems and Electrical Engineering teams to meet customer specifications and industry standards
• Support manufacturing by resolving design issues and creating engineering change documents
• Mentor junior engineers and drafters to develop cohesive mechanical designs
• Present mechanical material during design reviews and customer meetings
• Oversee the assembly, modification, and installation of designed systems

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of experience in a related field
• 3 to 7 years of professional mechanical engineering experience
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for parametric modeling and analysis
• Experience with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication
• Knowledge of detailed mechanism design (bearings, gears, motors, fasteners, and tolerancing)
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the simulator industry
• Proficiency with AutoCAD software
• Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA)
• Experience with composite materials and 3D printing
