Mechanical DFM Engineer

Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference.

Responsibilities

• Review supplier tool designs, fabrication process flows, equipment selection, DFM strategies, and DOE proposals
• Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for CNC machining, die casting, sheet metal, stamping, and sub-assemblies
• Drive fixture, tooling, and automation development in partnership with suppliers
• Establish inspection strategies and metrology requirements for tight-tolerance components
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve cycle time, yield, cost, and process robustness
• Assess supplier readiness for build events and production ramp
• Provide onsite technical leadership during line bring-up, pilot builds, and ramp readiness activities
• Own process qualification builds (EVT/DVT/PVT) and drive corrective actions
• Perform structured root cause analysis (8D, DMAIC, fishbone, DOE)

Requirements

• Experience supporting L6–L11 data center compute platforms or high-performance computing (HPC) systems
• Familiarity with high-density server packaging constraints, airflow management, and rack-level integration
• Strong understanding of server architecture constraints including SI/PI, thermal-mechanical reliability, and high-speed interfaces
• Demonstrated ability to drive cost reduction without compromising quality
