Responsibilities

  • Create and revise 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and bills of material using SolidWorks
  • Design and support trailer structures, frames, subframes, suspensions, hitches, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and brake systems
  • Prepare clear shop-ready drawing packages for steel fabrication and assembly
  • Support weight distribution, axle loading, fit-up, and basic structural calculations
  • Work with production to resolve design questions, fabrication issues, and assembly challenges
  • Support engineering changes, drawing updates, BOM accuracy, and revision control
  • Apply practical design-for-manufacturing thinking to improve cost, quality, weight, and build efficiency
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, vendors, and production on customer requirements

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-time mechanical design or engineering technology experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with steel fabrication, weldments, mechanical assemblies, or heavy equipment
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software
  • Ability to create clear fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Practical understanding of welding, cutting, forming, machining, and assembly
  • Technologist Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in trailers, heavy equipment, transportation, oilfield, construction, or agricultural equipment
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, brake, suspension, or electrical trailer systems
