Mechanical Designer of Harnesses

Responsibilities

• Select harness components and design routing, including the selection of mounting points
• Integrate designs and requirements from electrical, materials, structural, and thermal engineering into 3D models
• Develop and review manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and parts lists
• Use CAD software to model concepts and predict behavior
• Support the integration and testing of components in higher-level assemblies
• Develop mass production budgets and evaluate system costs
• Monitor the progress of component suppliers and present designs to internal or external customers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
• 2 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design
• Knowledge of harness component selection
• Proficiency with MS Office, specifically advanced Excel skills
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Must be able to obtain and hold Secret Level II or Reliability status security clearance
• Must be eligible for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience specifically in mechanical harness design
• Proficiency in CAD design, with NX preferred
• Bilingualism in English and French
• Knowledge of standards and regulations relating to harnesses and electronic systems
• Understanding of electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements and signal separation
• Knowledge of VBA programming
