Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the 3D CAD model for piping and mechanical systems
  • Develop and maintain piping component libraries, data attributes, and system standards
  • Perform detailed routing of pipes, valves, specialty components, and supports
  • Coordinate with structural, HVAC, and electrical systems to avoid clashes
  • Conduct clash detection and interdisciplinary model reviews
  • Produce isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings, and spool sheets
  • Define spool breaks and support modular construction
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure design intent and constructability
  • Maintain as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design or Drafting
  • 3+ years of experience modeling piping systems in 3D plant design platforms
  • Proficiency with plant design software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant 3D, or CADWorx)
  • Strong understanding of piping systems and industrial layout principles
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs into accurate 3D models
  • Experience producing piping isometrics and fabrication documentation
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nuclear, chemical, or petrochemical facilities
  • Familiarity with spec-driven piping and automated part selection
  • Knowledge of piping line numbering and tagging systems
  • Experience modeling pipe supports and maintenance clearances
  • Familiarity with Navisworks or similar clash detection tools
  • Understanding of fabrication and field installation practices
