About the role
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed mechanical designs for water and wastewater treatment systems, including pumping systems, process equipment, and pipework
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, datasheets, and bill of materials
- Carry out design calculations including pump head, flow/pressure sizing, and equipment selection
- Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, HAZOP/HAZCON, and water industry standards
- Provide technical support during construction and review vendor documentation
- Identify opportunities for asset performance improvement and system optimisation
Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience designing mechanical systems in water, wastewater, utilities, or process industries
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of pumps, valves, pipework, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to produce engineering calculations and technical documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered or working towards chartership (CEng/IEng) with IMechE
- Experience with BIM tools like Revit or Plant 3D
- Knowledge of WIMES specifications and DWI standards
- CSCS / SHEA Water certifications
