Responsibilities
- Provide conceptual, preliminary, and final design of systems and components for stellarator fusion power plants
- Work on projects including vacuum vessels, divertors, and plasma facing components
- Translate design requirements into functional stellarator components and systems
- Develop and validate FEA and CFD models using ANSYS, COMSOL, and other tools
- Analyze and align interface requirements between stellarator systems
- Develop procurement packages and resolve technical questions during fabrication
- Perform engineering analysis, design of experiments, and laboratory testing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Expert in mechanical design principles, failure modes, and lifecycle reliability
- Demonstrated experience in engineering analysis using ANSYS or COMSOL
- Experience with design of first of a kind components
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Design and Analysis software
- Experience operating within a PDM environment in CAD
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design of fusion energy systems and equipment
- Experience with Siemens NX CAD software
