Responsibilities

• Provide conceptual, preliminary, and final design of systems and components for stellarator fusion power plants
• Work on projects including vacuum vessels, divertors, and plasma facing components
• Translate design requirements into functional stellarator components and systems
• Develop and validate FEA and CFD models using ANSYS, COMSOL, and other tools
• Analyze and align interface requirements between stellarator systems
• Develop procurement packages and resolve technical questions during fabrication
• Perform engineering analysis, design of experiments, and laboratory testing

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Master's preferred)
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Expert in mechanical design principles, failure modes, and lifecycle reliability
• Demonstrated experience in engineering analysis using ANSYS or COMSOL
• Experience with design of first of a kind components
• Familiarity with Computer Aided Design and Analysis software
• Experience operating within a PDM environment in CAD

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with design of fusion energy systems and equipment
• Experience with Siemens NX CAD software
