About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed hardware designs for laser, optics, mechanical, and diagnostic applications
  • Create 3D CAD models using PTC Creo Parametric and produce fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Perform tolerance stack-up and interference analyses to validate form, fit, and function
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and vendors to integrate hardware into complex systems
  • Support installation, commissioning, and documentation of new designs

Requirements

  • AS degree or equivalent with applicable mechanical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to take projects from concept through fabrication and completion
  • Extensive knowledge of parametric solid modeling and 3D CAD design
  • Experience creating fabrication and assembly drawings using GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analyses and basic stress/strain calculations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present to peers and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applied experience with Creo Parametric / Creo Simulate
  • Experience with PTC Windchill PDM for engineering change requests and notices
  • Experience reviewing and verifying work of peers and other engineering disciplines
  • Ability to perform structural and/or thermal analyses to validate design decisions
