Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical structures, mechanisms, and power transmissions for prototype robotics
• Balance ergonomics, performance, reliability, weight, and maintainability in all designs
• Support prototype fabrication by working with internal and external partners on part fabrication and robot builds
• Design assembly tooling, fixtures, and detailed assembly procedures
• Build subsystem test fixtures, create test plans, and perform failure analysis to refine design assumptions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Software, and Firmware engineers
• Perform sustaining engineering tasks such as troubleshooting root causes of mechanical failures

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering and Machine Design
• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience designing complex electromechanical assemblies (e.g., robotics, automotive, or aerospace)
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS or Siemens NX
• Experience with prototyping manufacturing processes and materials
• Strong knowledge of tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Robotics, Humanoids, or Automation
• Proven track record of driving and leading projects from initial concept to completion
