Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

Responsibilities

• Establish and document requirements and conceptualize product architectures
• Design parts and assemblies utilizing SolidWorks
• Perform mechanical analyses including FEA, CFD, and hand calculations
• Generate engineering drawings per ASME and GD&T standards
• Compile Bills of Materials and provide technical supply chain support
• Work with technicians to build initial prototypes
• Create Design Validation Plans and Reports (DVP&R)
• Support testing execution and interpret results for design recommendations
• Integrate sub-systems into full systems

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Hands-on experience assembling mechanical systems
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional understanding of engineering fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, Metal AM, and composites
• Experience producing 2D part drawings and GD&T
• Experience with linear structural FEA
