Mechanical Design Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Generate CAD designs and documentation for transformer tanks, electrical enclosures, and mechanical drive systems
• Review sales specifications and technical requirements to develop product specifications
• Perform mechanical calculations to verify equipment ratings and component selection
• Create 3D virtual assemblies using SolidWorks and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD
• Prepare design packages including bills of materials, manufacturing details, and product manuals
• Support production, test, and service departments to resolve technical issues during manufacturing
• Update design information based on changes made during production and testing

Requirements

• Minimum 2-year technical degree in drafting or computer-aided design (CAD)
• 0-2 years of experience in a mechanical engineering product design role
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Fundamental mechanical knowledge including forces, moments, pressure, and motion
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Experience with the machining, fabrication, and assembly of metal and plastic components
• Experience using ERP/PLM software for managing bills of materials
