Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Company

Humanoid is on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Their flagship platform, HMND‑01 Alpha, is currently running in real industrial pilots.

Responsibilities

• Develop components for humanoid robots including frames, actuators, and joints using CAD software
• Apply GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5) to ensure precision and manufacturability
• Design robotic linkages and mechanisms focused on efficient motion and performance optimization
• Select materials and manufacturing methods that balance strength, weight, and cost
• Lead the prototyping phase using 3D printing and CNC machining to validate designs
• Integrate mechanical components with electrical and software systems
• Ensure designs meet safety standards through risk assessments and safety features
• Perform mechanical testing to verify performance and durability
• Produce detailed technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and BOMs

Requirements

• Strong background in mechanical design, statics, dynamics, and material science
• Proficiency in CAD tools, specifically SolidWorks
• Ability to apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to designs
• Familiarity with CNC machining, 3D printing, and injection molding
• Hands-on experience building and testing prototypes
• Understanding of safety standards such as ISO 10218 and risk assessment
• Strong analytical and communication skills
