Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, focusing on automotive mechanisms such as drives and actuators
• Utilize sheet metal design, linear motion, and plastics part design
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, electronics, and manufacturing
• Develop and evaluate prototypes, perform detailed tolerance analyses, and refine designs based on testing
• Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept and prototyping to production and validation
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability standards
• Interface with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure smooth transition to production
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement design improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in New Product Development (NPD)
• Focus on automotive mechanism design
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX
• Experience with FEA analysis
• Hands-on experience designing and validating electro-mechanical systems
• Knowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes (stamping, injection moulding), and GD&T
• Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and tolerance stack-up analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Design graduate or post graduate from Tier 1 or Tier 2 institutes (IITs, BITS, IISc, NITs, etc.)
• Previous experience working in a start-up or the automotive sector on electro-mechanical design
