About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components and sub-systems for photonic or fiber-optic applications, including alignment frames, holders, and modules.
  • Manage the full product development lifecycle from concept and prototyping to verification and implementation.
  • Design precision alignment structures and assembly-friendly mechanisms to support micron-level optical requirements.
  • Support prototype fabrication and validate designs through mechanical, thermal, and environmental testing.
  • Develop precision fixtures, jigs, and alignment tools to support product builds and automation integration.
  • Collaborate with Global R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to transition designs into scalable production.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement design improvements to support production troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically with precision components or micro-assembly.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T analysis, material selection, and thermal properties.
  • English proficiency equivalent to TOEIC 750+ or other recognized certifications (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber-optic components, FAUs, fiber alignment, or photonic packaging.
  • Background in micro-assembly, active alignment, or precision manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of CTE matching and stress analysis for optical assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience with CAE software for modal analysis and thermal simulation.
  • Familiarity with optical simulation tools and high-precision assembly equipment.
