Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and document aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and equipment installations
• Develop 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and supporting documentation per ASME Y14.5
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering data under configuration control
• Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and fatigue engineering analyses
• Coordinate with certification, production, and quality teams to support aircraft modifications and repairs
• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and testing activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
• Experience designing and documenting aircraft structures or mechanical systems
• Professional (CSWP) certification in SolidWorks or equivalent professional proficiency
• Proficiency in 3D modeling, assemblies, and sheet metal using SolidWorks
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T), materials, and manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with FAA regulations and aircraft certification processes
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
• Ability to work in both office and aircraft hangar environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of aerospace product development experience
• SolidWorks Certified Expert (CSWE) certification
• Experience with STC programs and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
• Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness requirements
• Experience with 3D scanning and reverse engineering
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems
