Mechanical Commodity Manager

Responsibilities

• Own supplier performance for assigned categories, including quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and continuous improvement
• Develop and execute category strategies to reduce supply risk and ensure continuity of supply
• Lead supplier business reviews and maintain strong relationships to drive accountability
• Partner with Demand Planning to align supplier readiness with short- and long-term forecasts
• Assess market dynamics to identify sourcing risks and cost optimization opportunities
• Lead sourcing initiatives to evaluate suppliers on cost, capability, quality, and commercial terms
• Optimize inventory and working capital through replenishment strategies and MOQ negotiation
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supply agreements to support business objectives
• Support new product introductions by aligning sourcing strategy with product launch timelines
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product teams to resolve supplier issues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, commodity management, or category management
• Experience managing supplier relationships in a manufacturing, hardware, or operations-driven environment
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and suppliers at multiple levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting mechanical categories or related commodities
• Track record of driving measurable improvements in cost, quality, delivery, or inventory
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
• APICS, ISM, PMP, or Six Sigma certification
