About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site facility condition assessments for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Evaluate HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, and boilers
- Provide written technical descriptions of observed systems and deficiencies
- Determine system condition and remaining useful life
- Provide recommendations and rough cost estimates for deficiency corrections
- Interview building operations staff to determine maintenance history and challenges
- Lead and support junior Mechanical Assessors on project teams
- Review work of peers and participate in post-project reviews
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical and plumbing facility condition assessments
- Experience evaluating HVAC, plumbing, and building equipment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments
- Physical ability to walk large areas, climb ladders, and walk on roof surfaces
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions
- Experience with building renovation and historical structures
- Experience as a Construction Administrator or Field Mechanical Technician
- Degree or certification in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering
- Prior cost estimating experience
- Proficiency with Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, and mobile device tools
