About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled mechanical repair and maintenance for a diverse fleet of campus vehicles and equipment, including electric, hybrid, and CNG models
  • Conduct electrical and electronic diagnosis, fault finding, and engine/transmission overhauls
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles to meet Provincial Vehicle Inspection Program requirements
  • Maintain gardening equipment, stationary emergency generators, and other mechanical assets
  • Fabricate, upfit, and modify vehicles using sheet metal facilities
  • Train and monitor the work of apprentices and instruct operators on proper equipment use
  • Manage repair parts inventory, order parts, and provide maintenance estimates
  • Respond to trouble calls and emergency call-outs, including mobile repairs

Requirements

  • Journeyperson trade certification as a Truck and Transport Mechanic (preferred) or Heavy-Duty Mechanic
  • Technical certification as an authorized Commercial/Private Vehicle Inspector
  • Valid BC Class 3 driver's license with air brakes endorsement
  • Minimum 5 years of related mechanical experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to provide own tools
  • Clean driver’s abstract and insurance claim history

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining and servicing EV, Hybrid, and CNG vehicles
  • Knowledge of the Workday system
