About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a working lead to mentor, guide, and train a team of mechanics
  • Coordinate maintenance projects and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and perform advanced repairs on pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment
  • Conduct condition monitoring and reliability analyses using vibration analyzers, ultrasonic detectors, and infrared thermography
  • Collaborate with engineers and contractors on equipment installations and system improvements
  • Utilize data-driven insights to support asset management and recommend maintenance strategy enhancements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of complex water facilities and systems
  • Valid California Class C driver's license and ability to maintain insurability
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications including CPR/First Aid, Confined Space, Forklift, and SCBA within 6 months of appointment
  • Ability to obtain CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade 4 and various reliability certifications within 24 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a public agency
  • Completion of college-level coursework
  • Possession of a California Class A or B driver's license
  • Specialized certifications such as Vibration Analyst, Machinery Lubrication Technician, or Infrared Thermography
