Mechanic I

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs and assembly for custom fire emergency vehicles.
• Diagnose, detect, and repair electrical issues on 12v and 24v vehicle systems.
• Identify, locate, remove, and replace parts or components to correct mechanical and hydraulic system malfunctions.
• Work from shop orders, schematics, prints, diagrams, and manuals to ensure manufacturing and quality standards are met.
• Set up and operate a wide range of equipment and machine tools, including hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
• Reassemble and test components, including lights, sirens, radios, and warning systems, to ensure proper operation.
• Participate in LEAN and continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and safety.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Proficiency in math and blueprint reading.
• Computer literacy and ability to use operating systems.
• Experience with electrical diagnosis (12v/24v) and mechanical/hydraulic system repair.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds frequently.
• Physical capability to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and stand for sustained periods.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
