About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test high-precision direct-drive and gear-driven machine tool spindle assemblies
  • Interpret mechanical engineering drawings, bills-of-materials, and work instructions
  • Work with high-precision mechanical tolerances ranging from 0.010 to 0.00005 of an inch
  • Verify component conformance using precision gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, and thickness gauges
  • Align components for assembly using manual methods, hoists, hand tools, and fasteners
  • Assemble, set up, and operate machinery to verify functioning and conformance to customer specifications
  • Form and fasten piping, fixtures, and attachments for air, water, and oil services
  • Record and track inspection records throughout the build cycle
  • Maintain a clean and organized working area following 5S standards

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding engineering drawings, models, and specifications
  • Experience working with part and assembly tolerances below 0.010 inch
  • Demonstrated understanding of shop math, including calculating stack-ups and match-ground fits
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and gauges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with precision assemblies
  • Background in precision machining, tool and die making, or instrument making
  • Experience as an engine mechanic, automotive technician, or machine builder
  • Knowledge of machine tool spindles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP
