Mechanic General

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance and repairs as per OEM requirements
• Systematically troubleshoot and diagnose machine system problems on earthmoving equipment
• Compile accurate customer machine reports including failure analysis and technical analysis
• Maintain professional image and comply with safe work practices
• Maintain and control contamination control standards
• Manage personal administration including labour booking, service reports, and part returns
• Ensure quality and productivity standards meet ISO standards

Requirements

• Qualified in a relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) NQF 3
• Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience on earthmoving machines
• Minimum 5 years of Caterpillar experience
• Caterpillar machine specific technical knowledge and skills
• Proficiency in SIS, STW, ET, and Microsoft Office
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Valid Code B driver's licence
• Ability to travel daily and work away from home on short notice
• Possession of basic tools (BWE standard kit)
