About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and perform mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on County vehicles and heavy equipment used in highway maintenance.
- Perform general mechanical work, including brake and hydraulic repairs, routine servicing, and correcting deficiencies.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment to complete repairs in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles after repair work is completed to ensure functionality.
- Maintain accurate systems and records, including files, logs, and computerized documentation.
- Assist with field repairs as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of coursework in vehicle or heavy equipment mechanical maintenance/repair or a related field.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in vehicle or heavy equipment mechanical maintenance/repair.
- Valid driver's license with CDL Class A Tank Vehicle Endorsement (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- ASE certification.
- Valid First Aid and CPR Card (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
