Mechanic Apprentice (Heavy Duty Equipment)

Responsibilities

• Assist with diagnosing equipment failures under the supervision of a mechanic or supervisor
• Repair heavy machinery including excavators, snow plows, graders, tandem trucks, and loaders
• Support the provincial preventative maintenance program
• Work with various electronic controls and computer diagnostics

Requirements

• Successful completion of a recognized Heavy Duty Equipment Repair program
• Self-motivated and engaged professional attitude
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments
• Effective team player with professional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience in trades, such as the operation of heavy trucks and equipment
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
• Valid First Aid and WHMIS certification
