Meat Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage the meat and seafood departments, including inventory, pricing, and sales strategies to meet profit margins
• Formulate weekly employee schedules and oversee recruitment, training, and performance reviews
• Perform meat cutting functions, including grinding, cubing, and processing according to company standards
• Implement merchandising strategies to optimize product presentation and reduce inventory shrinkage
• Operate department equipment such as meat band saws, cubers, wrappers, and vacuum packers
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and weight and measure regulations
• Oversee seafood department operations, including product selection, ordering, and stocking
• Maintain equipment and sanitation by washing, rinsing, and sanitizing all cases, stations, and cutting rooms

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Proven knowledge of meat cutting techniques and product handling
• Strong understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for inventory management and sales tracking
• Strong math skills for forecasting sales and analyzing P&L
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer and staff engagement
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift weights between 20-40 lbs (occasionally over 40 lbs)

Preferred Qualifications

• ServSafe Certification or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in meat processing or a related field
