About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance and analysis on hydrocarbon measurement for marine movements, including crude oil, natural gas, NGLs, and refined products.
- Support Trading, Sales, Operations, and Claims teams in trade agreement development and negotiations related to measurement principles.
- Interpret measurement provisions in commercial contracts, operating agreements, and joint venture arrangements to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
- Act as a technical interface for issue identification and resolution with marine terminals and vessels.
- Support the performance stewardship of inspection companies, cargo surveyors, and third-party oil loss technical advisors.
- Assist the Oil Loss Claims team with cargo volume or quality reconciliation and loss analysis on waterborne movements.
- Support troubleshooting investigations of complex laboratory analytical equipment and measurement equipment.
- Participate in working groups to support the development of industry measurement standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Technology, or a relevant technical discipline.
- 7-10 years of experience in petroleum measurement, cargo surveying, or laboratory specialist roles.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards including ISO, API, GPA, and ASTM.
- Proficiency with complex analytical equipment used in petroleum measurement and testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to make agile, fit-for-purpose decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
