MDS Coordinator (RN)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process to ensure accurate and timely resident assessments in compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and OBRA requirements.
• Ensure assessments accurately reflect the physical, mental, and psychological status of each resident.
• Maintain an accurate schedule of all MDS assessments, including admission, quarterly, annual, and significant change assessments.
• Perform concurrent MDS reviews to ensure appropriate RUG/PDPM categories are achieved through accurate clinical information capture.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate effective care plan development and management.
• Conduct regular audits of the MDS process, including the validation of coding documentation.
• Ensure timely electronic submission of all Minimum Data Sets and manage necessary modifications or inactivations.
• Communicate regularly with the Business Office and Administrator regarding case mix index and reimbursement opportunities.

Requirements

• Current RN or LPN licensure in the state of employment.
• Minimum of two years of healthcare experience.
• Proven experience with MDS completion and reimbursement processes.
• Proficiency with standard office software and MDS/RAI specific software applications.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours to support business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with clinical resource utilization or case management.
• Familiarity with Relias training modules.
