About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of the McNair Scholars Program, focusing on graduate school preparation and undergraduate research.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff regarding program support and information.
  • Coordinate and evaluate program activities, including seminars, recruitment events, and research presentations.
  • Maintain student resources such as research colloquia, academic advising, and graduate school application support.
  • Manage program records, including demographic statistics and academic progress, to ensure compliance with federal and institutional guidelines.
  • Develop recruitment plans to identify undergraduate students interested in research and graduate studies.
  • Coordinate logistics for research presentations and graduate school site visits.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in programming or administrative work.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with target populations (e.g., first-generation, low-income, or historically underrepresented students).
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Access).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Department of Education grant regulations or TRIO programs.
  • Experience working in an academic support program.
  • Background in undergraduate research programs or graduate school application preparation.
  • Experience with instructional and curriculum design.
  • Proficiency with university computer systems.
