Materials Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical material testing on composites, polymers, plastics, rubber, and concrete under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Develop comprehensive test plans, test methods, and schedules.
• Design test specimens and specialized fixtures.
• Operate electromechanical and servo-hydraulic test machines (MTS or Instron) according to ASTM and NASA standards.
• Conduct testing in various environments, including room temperature, elevated temperatures, and liquid nitrogen.
• Analyze materials test data and generate detailed technical reports.
• Participate in customer meetings to discuss technical findings and project progress.

Requirements

• BS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Materials, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• US Citizenship is required.
• 1-5 years of experience in materials testing preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating within a mechanical materials test laboratory.
• Proficiency with Solid Edge CAD software.
• Direct experience with MTS and Instron material test systems, including test method development.
• Strong working knowledge of ASTM standards.
