About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise lean material strategy for General Assembly, integrating automation and digital systems to optimize operations
  • Build and maintain a multi-year automation and material-flow roadmap including IoT, data analytics, and digital twins
  • Lead a high-performing team of material and automation professionals, providing coaching and performance management
  • Identify and deploy advanced automation solutions such as ASRS, AMR/AGV systems, and robotic kitting
  • Lead the material and automation workstream for new vehicle programs from concept through ramp-up
  • Define and monitor key performance metrics including safety, delivery, inventory turns, and automation uptime
  • Champion lean material flow using value stream mapping, standard work, and visual management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing with progressive responsibility
  • Proven track record implementing material automation technologies (ASRS, AMR/AGV, LMS/WMS)
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and value stream mapping
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale projects
  • Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in General Assembly material flow, VAA management, sequencing, and kitting
  • Hands-on experience with industrial control systems and plant floor automation (PLC, IoT, vision systems)
  • Background in data analytics and automation of business processes using tools like Power BI or Python
  • Prior leadership experience in a global or multi-site manufacturing environment
