About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the enterprise lean material strategy for General Assembly, integrating automation and digital systems to optimize operations
- Build and maintain a multi-year automation and material-flow roadmap including IoT, data analytics, and digital twins
- Lead a high-performing team of material and automation professionals, providing coaching and performance management
- Identify and deploy advanced automation solutions such as ASRS, AMR/AGV systems, and robotic kitting
- Lead the material and automation workstream for new vehicle programs from concept through ramp-up
- Define and monitor key performance metrics including safety, delivery, inventory turns, and automation uptime
- Champion lean material flow using value stream mapping, standard work, and visual management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing with progressive responsibility
- Proven track record implementing material automation technologies (ASRS, AMR/AGV, LMS/WMS)
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and value stream mapping
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale projects
- Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in General Assembly material flow, VAA management, sequencing, and kitting
- Hands-on experience with industrial control systems and plant floor automation (PLC, IoT, vision systems)
- Background in data analytics and automation of business processes using tools like Power BI or Python
- Prior leadership experience in a global or multi-site manufacturing environment
